About the Gremlin
Rachel picked up cross stitch so she would have something to do with her hands while watching TV, and hasn't looked back. She finds inspiration stuck between the pages of 1st edition Stephen King novels, gazing deeply into her scrying glass, and by listening to Nine Inch Nails songs backwards. Gremlin Headquarters is currently located in gloomy Portland, Oregon.
All cross stitch patterns & pieces are lovingly handmade by Rachel while she watches TV or listens to a podcast. AI is never used - all patterns are drawn by hand, and all text comes straight from the void of inspiration. Only losers use GenAI, and they should be made fun of.
You can contact the Gloomy Gremlin through the Contact form, by email, or via astral projecting into her dreams (preferred).

Executive Assistant
Sirius The Dog helps with ideation, execution, and photography. He closely monitors all projects to prevent errors, and ensure all finished pieces are at least 3% dog hair.

Okay, if you need my actual bio for something:
I grew up in a haunted house in Southern California, and that pretty much set the tone for my life. I was raised on a steady diet of sci fi & fantasy (letting an elementary/middle school me read Asimov & Crichton was a wild choice by my parents), and once I graduated from RL Stine to Stephen King I became an avid horror fan too.
I went to Cal State University Channel Islands with the goal of being a psychologist, but upon graduation realized that would be a terrible fit. I then thought "well, I've been doing my & my friends' hair for years, maybe I should go to beauty school!" That also didn't turn out, but I now have a degree AND a state certification that I don't use!
I started cross stitching in 2019 because my chronic pain wouldn't let me crochet anymore. I started designing patterns as gifts for my friends, who then loving bullied me into starting The Gloomy Gremlin in 2021! I've always loved art, but never saw myself as an artist - I can't draw my way out of a paper bag, much less paint, so it still blows my mind that I'm now technically a ✨professional artist✨. I take a lot of inspiration from my favorite books, movies & music, and political issues like worker's rights & LGBTQAI+ rights. If you're working on a fundraiser shoot me an email, I'd love to help!
I currently live in gloomy, Portland Oregon, and you're going to have to drag me away kicking & screaming because I love it here so much! I live with my incredible partner, and our silly little rescue dog Sirius. You can usually find me reading in a coffee shop, at a ska, punk, or metal show, playing video games, or picking through an estate sale for new weird shit for my wunderkammer.
